Read my books before anyone else can buy them.
An ARC is an advance reader copy. It goes out thirty to sixty days before a book is published, to a small group of readers who are willing to say what they think.
Here is why it matters more than it used to. When a book launches with no reviews, most readers scroll past it. They have no way to know whether it is worth their time. A handful of honest reviews in the first week is often the difference between a book finding its readers and disappearing.
That is the whole arrangement. You get the book early and free. I ask that you post an honest review when it releases, if you are able and if you have something to say. Whatever you actually thought. If you did not like it, say that. A review that only ever says nice things is worth nothing to anyone.

I publish two or three books a year, so this is not a lot of email.

The first one is ready now. Lost Voices is a new line of standalone historical novellas, separate from the Echoes of Fortune thrillers and quieter in tone. The Death of Blackbeard runs about 15,000 words, a single sitting. It releases October 13, and ARC copies go out September 15.
